Winterville Baptist Church Leadership

Winterville Baptist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Mike Dixon

Pastor

Melissa and I, both natives of Washington, N.C. answered the
call to fulltime Christian ministry in 1991, as I completed the
first phase in my educational process, earning an A.A. in
Religion from Liberty University. Here we are now beginning
our 29th year in the pastorate together. The journey has been
incredible. We have shared many victories in ministry, as well
as a few challenges, times of laughter and times of tears, but
God has been faithful to teach us so much through each of these
experiences. Together, God has taught us that love is the most
precious gift we can receive and offer to others. Our approach
to ministry is first to strive to love God with everything that is
within us and then to love those around us more than ourselves.

I am so thankful to God for not only saving my soul in 1988, but
for also saving my life. I never would have imagined that God
would call me into ministry, bless me with such a wonderful
family, and entrust to me the incredible privilege to speak of His
amazing grace to the world. God has allowed me to serve on
missions in South Africa, South America, Honduras, the
Caribbean, as well as within the United States. I never grow
tired of sharing the good news of the Gospel! It is the power
found within the Gospel that saves, transforms, and sets the
captive free. My life and testimony is evidence of His great
eternal grace.

Kathy Worthington

Music Coordinator & Pianist

It is a blessing to serve in the music ministry at my home church.  Winterville Baptist Church has been my home since the early 1990s when I attended with my family.  In January 1992, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.  It was such a special time in my life.  I was in a wonderful place to grow as a young Christian.  My experience within our church allowed me to assist as a youth leader on lay renewal ministry teams throughout Eastern Carolina.  As an active member of the youth group, I also sang in the adult choir.  Music has always been an important part of my life.  I formally studied piano for over eight years.  Along with piano, I also sang with the Greenville Choral Society and the East Carolina University Chorale.  My experience with these choirs introduced me to different music genres.  I have a great appreciation for the traditional hymns that we sing because of the stories told through the lyrics. Contemporary worship music is also just as important because it gives us real life application from a modern perspective.  Our church blends both styles of music as we praise God with song.

LET'S MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE UNTO OUR LORD!
