The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 118:24 (ESV), “This is the day that the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
What an exciting time to be an active part in what God is doing in this church fellowship! I count it an honor to be called to serve you as Senior Pastor of Winterville Baptist Church. God has been moving and continues to move, to bring us together for such a time as this! This is God’s plan.
I’m excited today because if you have not yet heard, our house in Rocky Mount, N.C. is now under contract with a firm and promising offer to purchase. The closing date is scheduled for March 19th. It only took 3 weeks on the market before it sold at our list price! Melissa and I are now actively looking at houses in the Winterville area as we seek out our next home. God is working out the details perfectly! I believe we have some great years ahead in Winterville. We are looking forward to getting to know you and for you to really get to know us.
I’m excited because I see God’s hand so clearly moving throughout the past year to bring us to Winterville. You will hear me say from time to time, “It’s not about you. It’s all about Him.” Well, it’s not about me either, it’s all about Him. God’s plan is always perfect and He is more than capable of suppling all that we need to follow His will for us. Someone in Rocky Mount recently asked me, “How do you know it’s God telling you to go to Winterville?” My response was, “Because I know the Shepherd’s voice”(John 10:27). Throughout our 29 years in fulltime pastoral ministry Melissa and I have witnessed God calling and moving us as He has directed our path. The results of following His guidance have always been souls saved, the church strengthened, and we are all blessed because of Him. That’s why we are so excited. God is already working in our relationship. I believe our future together is going to be amazing.
This is a great time for us all to recommit ourselves to our Lord and to the task that God has called us to. If you are already an active member, I encourage you to continue and even reach out to others who may not be as actively involved. Let’s encourage one another and join together from the very beginning of our relationship to be all that God desires. For those of you who may not be as committed as you should be, my heart is burdened for you. You are missing God’s best! Hebrews 10:25 instructs us to “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together.” That means we need to be united with other believers within a local assembly. We were never created to be independent creatures. We need God and we need one other.
It’s a new day for Winterville Baptist Church! God has many great things ahead for us. The best is yet to come! We would love for you to be a part of what God is doing through us and within us. I hope to see you soon!
Praying and Expecting Great Things from God,
